Halfpint- if you can do 8 miles on a bike, you can do 15 miles without too much effort. My training started in january with a very slow 5 mile bike ride round my park, I did 8 miles at the end of January, and by mid-march I was up to 15 miles and beginning to try and do it faster. I think I built up very cautiously. I don't think twice about doing 16-17 miles now, and am starting to think about 20+ with a sort of yearning. ![]() |

Katie - I did 20 miles a couple of weeks ago with the coach whos taking our beginners tri group. She took us 9ish miles out a fairly undulating road to allow us to do a 1 mile b@stard hill and then we had to cycle back of course ![]() ![]() ![]() |

holgs - I have done a couple of brick sessions and found it quite interesting and tough. I think my fitness has improved greatly over last few weeks tho and my legs feel a lot stronger for the cycling too ![]() |

Have you practised getting off bike and running a mile? Or any distance? It's definately worth a practise. I did shorter bike rides, then the whole 3 miles, and the whole distance on bike and just a 10 minute run. I wasn't sure how it would go for me either, I hadn't exercised for that long for ages! |

My biggest problem is the ITB problem I have. Its painful when running. I did the 8 mile bike and 3mile run yesterday but I had to wait for my training partner to catch up before I set off on run so missed the 'brick' effect if that makes sense. I am repeating with different partner tomorrow and will hopefully head straight into run!!

I hope it goes well. I'd also practise getting off bike, running with bike and then running. ![]() |

What's a 220? And what's a 70.3?
