Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Steve: That sounds like hard work in Cornwall with hills.
Big G You seem to be coming along nicely after issues.
Shades; I always found with my back moving it help rather sitting down
Aha posh Devon-I have never been to Devon ;-)

Thanks I just hope short lived and if RHR drops over night I am going for a run.
I just spent 40 minutes on phone to get appointment with GP for OH only to be told a shortage of GPS today so skeleton service and call again tomorrow!-It really is so hard to get appointment these days.

WP - hope you can get a doc's appointment tomorrow.

Salcombe is very posh, there's a 4 bedroom flat for sale there, price 1,300,000. Or if that's too big for you, a 2 bed flat for 1,250,000.

Devon is a huge county, that's the posh bit though.

WP, yes, I am pleased how this week and last week have gone. It’s beginning to feel like ‘proper’ running/training again now.

Big G great to see some consistent running, any issues with the chest or general fitness now?

Shades safe trip tomorrow, hope the back behaves and you get round, nice weather sounds perfect. I’ve not really got back onto the healthy eating so will just try to be sensible.

WP doesn’t matter how quick 5km are over, you won’t see me running one full out any time soon! The worst race I have ever done was a mile… took me days to get back to normal!

Steve super mileage enjoy the cut back week

Rcouture hope you enjoy the break as much as you can with the 8 kids.

Train up yesterday took forever due to engineering works 5 hours door to door, thankfully managed to get half decent WiFi on the train and able to watch the Chelsea final, almost ran out of battery on the laptop and forgot my charger.

Woke early and ran to old Trafford and back 7 miles, work was okay, met some new team members, sat with them and did some training. Unsure what to do with the evening I thought about going to watch cricket but opted for a short tour run round Manchester and other 3.5 miles then a bite to eat.

Tomorrow prob run out to Man City ground and back, work then a curry. Depends how many beers involved but have a plan to run to heaton parkrun which will be 13 miles in total before a walk round Manchester then cricket. Should get back home about 1am Sunday (hence transferring my track marathon)

Rob - it can be very difficult to stick to the healthy eating when away from home. But you're still doing some decent mileage so you should be able to avoid putting any weight on.

I'll be hitting the cooked hotel breakfasts myself this weekend, not good for my cholesterol 😟

Haven't slept much, room is quiet and comfortable but back niggling. Alarm is set for 4 a.m. anyway. My 'airport hotel ' is a very posh golf club although the rooms are fairly basic. Now it's nearly time to get up my back is easing a bit. Hopefully I'll sleep well tonight in my 4* hotel 🤣

Rob, RHR is still a couple of beats higher, but it’s getting better. I’m hoping in a couple of weeks it may be back to normal. And I’m still slow, but that’s okay as well at the moment.

Shades, safe travels today.

Busy day yesterday but got about 75mins on the bike, and ticked off another route on Zwift.

Headed out for another 7-miler this morning. Very humid, but it was a reasonable run.

Big G Great news all moving forward and decent mileage.

Very humid here as well but ran 4+ miles as RHR dropped. Stopped at market for my eggs from local farm.

Big G - you'll be hitting constant 50 mile weeks soon.

WP - I noticed the last couple of days that we're into the humid weather.

Flight was a bit late, due to passenger disruption on a previous flight, we weren't told any more than that. 😲

Danish plane and crew again, very charming and efficient with very smart uniforms too. I managed a 20 minute kip on the plane which refreshed me.

I asked for a quiet room and I'm at the very far end of the hotel, just as well I don't mind a walk. Dual aspect room, very nice.

I've picked up my number. I'm hoping I can finish the marathon as the t-shirt is lovely and a good fit. Although I've run enough Cork marathons in the past to justify wearing the shirt.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon. Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
