There are Pro's and Con's for both. Some people are a bit sniffy about treadmills in the same way that the cycling community look down on people who use static cycles to train. Horses for courses..

Each to their own, as long as one is happy and to me it is running anyway, whether on Treddy or outdoors

Me too Andrew, nothing like running with the element of the season, rain cold fine with me, hot weather, not for me that is why I run @ silly o'clock in the morning to avoid the hotness

Heat is OK up to a point. I recently went on a couple of runs in Florida where the temp was about 35 degrees. The humidity was what killed me though Some gyms have fans in front of the treadmills which is a great idea IMO!

running fast on a treadmill ? anything faster than 6:30 pace and I feel very nervous. One slip and you have a faceful of treadmill belt. Not a good look

Treadmills just dont feel right and the gym I use is a council leisure centre so back to basics ... So running on them is so so so boring. However I tend to use for small interval sessions 6/8x400m at 14kmh etc ... Problem being Ive spent too much time on weights and not running now jumped up to 96kgs ooooops.

SOAPM, you would have loved the VO2Max I did last month then, last bit took us up to 6 minute mile pace, and then gradually increased the incline by 2.5% every minute. There was no stop button, so when you wanted to stop, you had to jump off!!! Not easy at absolute exhaustion point at 6 minute mile pace. No one in the test got injured or flew off backwards, but it was a miracle. When I jumped, I only managed to get one leg off, and the other came back down on the belt and flew out behind flamingo style!
