G, I think the adding to 55-70 or removing from the 70+ ends up in roughly the same place. I wasnt removing any sessions, it was ensuring Monday remained a rest day which on the 70+ plan has a recovery, sometimes double and also ditching some of the seconds runs or reducing length of a few runs. There was one scary day with 15 am and 4 pm that I reckoned I could ditch the 2nd run and settle for 13, but do 15 if I felt OK. Ive got plenty time so I may even do a wee spreadsheet with both plans side by side and see how the modificatiosn work |

I only have an older edition of P&D and the plans have been modified in more recent versions. Does anyone have the more recent versions of the plan in an easy to share format ? I am interested in the 18 week 55-70 and 70+ plans......I have found the 12 week versions in the fetch training plan section, but not the 18 week versions. Cheers |

I'll see what I can do Baz. I've got the kindle version of the 2nd edition. I wonder if the PC will let me take screenshots. I doubt it. If not I'll see if I've time to fetchify it.

Lol. Just looked at it, apologies for the awful formatting. I put it together in libre office and it looked fine, but google drive has done it's own thing. It's still perfectly readable as the plans themselves are images.

No problem. I'm tempted to maybe have a bash at the 70+ for a few weeks to get some structure back into my training.

I hope to give this 18 week plan a crack for London next year too, I need more mileage but unsure if I just need more quality and can replace the GA miles, with my cycling commute (32 miles per day), I'm targeting sub 2:50, but want 2:45..

MPH, the first few times I used P&D I worried about the 'lack' of quality. Don't worry, it's spot on. If this is more mileage than you are sued to then you'll see the improvements in marathon. I wouldn't aim to replace GA runs with cycling. I've combined 80-90mpw commuting on the bike with full marathon training (~80mpw) and got good results. Obviously you're doing a lot more on the bike, but if you're used to the training load from the commute, adding on the running training shouldn't be too difficult.

I'm starting the 18 week 55-70 miles per week plan W/C 9 December for VLM. Look forward to following the thread and the exploits of others and hoping it will provide motivation on the CBA days too, cheers ![]() |
