Thanks DW. I was hypering-it-up about that run and now I have a bit more conf for the big day. Maybe I'm heaping the pressure on a bit by letting the world know I have no right to live if I don't break 4 hours on the marathon?

I wimped out of my run today -- its too wet to run on grass, and I don't want to risk running on road again yet (slightly iffy ankle).

Awesome, bit chilly and drizzly, but still managed to leave house at 5.30am! Steady pace for all 13 miles, then slowed a little for last 2. Was made to feel ver ysmug as it bucketted down within 30 mins of getting home!
Cold bath for 5 minutes seems to have staved off any ill effects so far.

I was very lucky with the weather. I didn't start my run until 4:15pm after finishing work and having seen the rain pouring down at various times earlier in the day. The weather was fine when I started, but with lots of black clouds overhead and 17 miles to run, I didn't think the prospects of staying dry were particularly good.
Yet 2 hours and 33 minutes later, I got back to the gym and there hadn't been any rain, although there was thunder and lightning. Still, I would have much preferred to do that run in blazing sunshine. I just find it so energising to run in the sun. I need to confirm the exact distance of the run, but I think it was 17.25, so I just about managed sub 9 minute miling, which is about what I wanted today.

Monday morning runs for me are just 3 mile easy recovery runs after the two hard days running at the weekend. I mostly follow the same route and just listen to my music and the time passes by with me hardly noticing it.
The good thing about these Monday morning runs are that they are the one consistent run each week and I can compare the average heart rate week by week. Today, my average heart rate was another 2 bpm lower than last week. I now don't need to let my heart rate drop any further for these runs, so I can start running them a bit quicker. With 10 weeks still to go before Abingdon marathon, and hopefully plenty of improvement yet, my confidence is growing all the time.
