Riga, yes probably a better time of day to run on your own but do take care. I'm sure your dog would look after you if he felt the need to.
Big Al, I think you may be suffering from trying too hard every time you run. Don't despair. Make sure you do at least a couple of runs where you run/jog ridiculously slow, I mean so slow that you could probably walk (briskly) faster.
It will and is meant to feel really easy. As I say, make sure you do runs like this in between your other runs and make sure they are at least 5 miles long, the longer the better within reason.
Doing this will ensure that your body gets rest in between hard runs, get used to extended periods of time running (doesn't matter about speed) and keeps the heart rate elevated for aerobic benefit and low enough so you don't go anaerobic. The last bit is important to build your fitness base.
Just do that, be patient with yourself and see how it goes. You will start loving running again within 2 months

Thanks for the advice IanM. You're right, I do find running slowly to be a problem. I always want to quicken at the start - it's as if I'm cheating if I don't go as fast as is just about bearable. Also I suppose I worry that if I do say 15 miles and it takes me 150 mins or so, then that's an indication of almost certain failure when I come to race at my proposed pace. Btw, I'm running the Moray Marathon on Sept 3rd so this is the last hard training week for me. I've done 900k since May 1st and if I don't break 4 hours, there's going to be tears!

My run was okish as my foot was okish
Am I worried it will not last Sunday VERY
At least I have analyzed the issue and feel I know what caused it. Thats the good news, the bad news is it is my own fault and I am out of time.

Enjoyed it, although hard work at the end. Couple of killer hills. By the end my legs were feeling quite stiff. Went an extra mile today, so nearer to 11 miles as my long run. I can't ever imagine going 15 miles say as a normal long run. I can't think of any interesting routes for one thing!!!

Hope all goes well Gobi!
Mine was ace this morning, 3 miles 23:18, 30s per mile slower than 5k pace. Loved it.

Gobi, I hope you get through the race OK, good luck.
Big Al, yes I always felt that it was cheating to run slowly. I'm used to it now and when I joined here in June I heeded Gobi's advice to slow down a bit more to what I thought was slow and am now reaping the dividends. I love running more than ever, am training lionger and harder than I ever thought possible and looking forward to my Mara in Nottingham. Sounds like you have done plenty of training so try and relax a bit and enjoy it
Trazza, I used to think 15 miles in training would be crazy. Now I regularly enjoy 15 milers on a LSR. I'll be doing 17 on Sunday for the first time... I'm lucky to live where I do, I can choose between country trails, Derbyshire peaks or roads and any mixture of them. I do my LSRs a lot around Derwent reservoir in Derbyshire which is handily 10 miles, 15 miles or 20 miles depending upon the route...
Didn't get my early morning one done today, woke up, felt really tired and my calfs were very tight so decided to wait until tonight...

Had a great run last night I intended on doing 6 miles slowly and about 3 miles into it i thought I would be lucky to do that far however I suddenly found a rythem and an energy after about 4 miles that I hadn't felt before and I completed the 6 miles and tagged another 2 on the end without any problem. I could have gone further but my calf started hurting and became really tight so I stopped. But felt great other than that maybe I have turned a corner.
