have fun, ian! after 10 minutes you wont notice the cold and rain! (unless you're planning on swimming in which case you will probably remain wet and cold for the entire hour!)

Mmm - I'll stick with it then eh ? Just concerned about the 1/2 I've got in 3 weeks time - hope my legs remember how to do distance and speed on the day.
Good luck with your race Riga - if it was in the betting section I'd risk a small wager

DW - thanks! its a fairly small race, only the first year that anglesey have done a 10k, and my number is 87 even though i only entered 10days ago! Probably my only chance ever to come in the top 100! hehehe
r.e. not being in the betting section: i think its because my first race was actually a 10.5k so this is my first official attempt at this distance (even though its not really)
has your training for your 1/2 not been going well then?

Hi Riga I got it completely wrong at Vyrnwy and got a personal worst ! Hoping to get back to under 2 hours at Swindon next month, and it's hilly, so I'll need to be a bit quick. Looks like you've got the bug good and proper now - you're getting up at daft o'clock to go running

Just tried to do set pace intervals outside with the garmin for the first time - eek!
Set the distance/distance intervals and the slow pace alert... felt like smashing the bloomin thing half way through!
The slow pace alert seemed a little dodgy though. Aiming for 5:35min/km, set it to 5:37 and it persecuted me i ended up averaging 4:18 on one of the intervals!!!
Anybody else got experience using the slow pace alert?

DW, you will probably find that the half marathon is easier to do because you have a good stamina base. If you havd ebeen doing a bit of speed work you should see a significant difference. Mainly I found that it (half mara) just felt a lot easier, more comfortable and more enjoyable.
Riga, I went out, felt totally knackered - still do for some reason. The rain stopped after half way round, I did 5 miles recovery run after last nights hard tempo run.
Happy birthday Diva
Lyns, I find the interval workouts on my Garmin make me run like mad. I just make sure that on an interval I'm not in a zone which means I must be doing at least 7:30 min miles...
Slow pace is 10 min miles but the beeper seems to take a while to settle down and after a bit it stops nagging anyway...

Thanks IM - i guess i ought to have set the 'fast pace alert' as well as the 'slow pace alert' but i didn't think going too fast would be a problem
