Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm hoping to get out later to work out my max HR but am slightly worried because I have to go on my own and although I'm sure I'll be ok, if I have a heart attack or something as I run up that hill passers by may ignore me and I'll never find out what my max is.The book says I should take a friend with me and I haven't got any.

Erm, Rebel, joking aside it isn't really advisable to do a physical Max HR test on your own you know?

Don't worry about it too much, you can do one when someone is available to watch even if they don't want to run with you.

I still haven't done my physical Max HR test and it isn't that cruicial to be honest, you can do structured training with the guesstimate formula...

Yeah, that's what I've been doing but I think my max HR is higher than the usual formula says it should be.

Rubbish run last night. Attempted short 1 minute intervals but got too hot after 4th rep, wimped out to a kind of fartlek, then went the colour of beetroot, my HR shot up to 180 and stubbonly refused to come down again even when I took my recoveries down to 12min/mile and my head started to ache so I stopped. I know when I'm a beaten woman :(

I live on the Wirral, in Wallasey. That's opposite Liverpool across the Mersey.
