Running along a country lane (closed to traffic) at 6:30 this morning, I met up with a pair of deer, ambling along the road. They soon scarpered when they saw the fetch shirt, but it made my morning

My first ever, ever 10K race today! OK, so I finished 173 out of 176, but I did finish! Top moment, so I even bought an official race photo!

what's the best race to aim for now then - would you recommend another 10k, or is the next thing a Half-Marathon?

I'd stick with improving 10k times first, but slowly make your weekly long runs longer, until you can comfortable run 12 miles, then try a 10 miler, follow the same recipe, making your long runs slightly longer, until you can comfortably run 15 miles, then attempt a half.

Painful
Had problems with pain in my left hip from around 6K and had to stop for a couple of walk breaks...still managed a PB and achieved my goal of running a 10K in under 50 minutes so it's not all bad
