No joy yet - have updated windows and tried different ports, including the one used by the mouse (which defenitely works), may have to try a system restore. PS - interesting BBC article re: solar flares affecting the accuracy of sat nav devices.. news.bbc.co.uk |

Hi Guys, I used the 305 for the first time today and thought it was great however I'm a real technophobe and I have two (probably daft) questions....1) When I have finished a run and pressed stop, can I just turn the Garmin off and the data will be saved? I was too scared to after run today in case it lost everything as I had done lots of times with my Forerunner 50 and 2) I imported someones route from here onto it and here's the stupid bit I never seem to be getting near the start, I was always 1/2 mile off that in the end I gave up and just did my own route. How do I find where the start of someone's route is. Is it a case of I should have looked on the map first??? Many thanks. |

MrsB 1) yes it will be fine. You could press and hold "Lap" to clear the screen so that you don't restart the same run next time but you dont need to. 2) no idea, never done it, sorry |

MoaT I would first verify that the reading is indeed wrong and by how much by taking my pulse in the old fashioned way with a stopwatch and comparing with the HRM. Once that is confirmed I would agree that the battery would be the first suspect. If you do need to take up with Garmin the issue of a dodgy strap, being able to quote the degree of error can only help. |

Mrs B - the route following is a bit hit and miss at times, especially if the route crosses itself! The easiest way to find the route is to use the compass screen and run in the direction it is pointing you (am I saying the obvious here?)

Flanker, no you weren't stating the obvious, I just have the inability to read the instructional booklet! Been playing with it today and I'm stuck inside with stupid flu and it's starting to make a little more sense!

Help again, guys - Sporttracks only ever looks for and loads the last 7 days of data on my 305. I switched my bloody Garmin off today when I looked at it at 3 miles or so, and had no data for how far we'd run, (yes i is a twat, and I keep doing this) so I loaded my sister's run data onto my sporttracks and it looked back a month from her 305. Why? I guess the set up isn't on Sporttracks cos I loaded both Garmins onto the same programme. Anyone know how to make it load the older data? Cheers! ![]() |

I know I'll sound like a dope for asking this but how do you get your Garmin training runs to link to those fancy Google map type things, where you can see the fancy red line showing you where you've been ? Help please ![]() |
