Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Good article Ian. Do you have the latest version of Training Center? Big big improvement - it's still fairly awful and crashes and wrecks your database all the time, but it will back your database up and restore it when it ruins the current one, and it will let you look at your runs in Google Earth.

It doesn't specify Vista so I'm guessing it's still only w2000 and XP... :-(

I'm still getting to grips with my 305's basic functions, like its autostop feature, which seems to get confused when I manually stop it.

DrBob, when you stop it I believe the autolap starts another lap. Not sure if auropause has the same effect?

I'm still at the "playing with it" stage, but who knows - in a few years I might be able to pass on some wisdom!!!

Autopause doesn't start another lap, but it does stop in the underpass at the beginning of the GNR and totally mess up your timings:-(

Stopping the thing while waiting for level crossings etc hasn't resulted in a new lap either. Mine's set up only to lap at each KM, though.

What I did like the one time I used it was the "little man racing against you" pace function. Kept having to press the button, though, to bring the diagram up.

Ian: I suppose it's vaguely reassuring to know that Garmin aren't much more interested in the PC crowd than the Mac crowd :(
Bob: I stopped using autopause fairly quickly, it just seemed more hassle than it was worth. Maybe you have a lot more roads to cross than me...

Hi Badger, I turned my autopause thing off too, it's annoying and I prefer to hit a button when I want it to stop counting.
Had a good interval session with it tonight, it worked really well for half mile repeats, again doing the manual lap thing rather than relying on anything automatic.

I haven't worked out how to make it tell the time of day yet, not that it's a problem!
