The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free.
But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient.
Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead.
Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?
A bit more vicarious "trumpet blowing" after this weekend. 6th for the young offspring at Wasdale at the weekend must be his best run. Managed to get places in all the EFC races he could, so just needs to run the short at Blisco Dash in a couple of weeks to properly score in the champs; a top 10 overall looks on the cards, despite him constantly telling us in our weekly catch ups that "he's injured" and "hasn't trained much". Oh to be young again!!
Same for me; traditional old fashioned route, we never lived "over the brush" before we got married. Quite a rarity!
I've been enjoying watching the fell stuff (remotely) over the year; clearly self interested in family exploits, but it was a world I knew relatively little about tbh. Have been watching the videos that "Olga" posts

which, whilst being a acquired taste, really give a sense of the community that exists around those races, particularly in the NW of England. Am struck though by how regionally focussed it is; even just the English Champs all being races withing about 70 miles on one another - do they ever do champs races in other hillier parts of England?
Well outside the lakes, south peninnes, Dales, North York moors and Shropshire hills, there aren't many (any?) places that can host cat A fell races.
And to be honest some (but not all) of the cat A fell races outside the lakes (particularly the longer ones) get a bit contrived to get the necessary climb in to be classed as Cat A.
The only place that might have potential would be Northumberland or some of the areas in the north Pennines, but there are much fewer races up there anyway. North of the A66 and east of the M6, there really aren't many races.
We hosted a race last year (Guisborough 3 Tops) and there were plenty of complaints about it being a "fast trail race". Difficult to dispute that entirely.
Most of my races have been in Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors with a few around West Yorkshire. None of them really compare to any of the few races I've done in the Lakes, hence the regional focus.
Our best race (my opinion anyway - Bilsdale, AL, literally just) possibly comes under the contrived nature fozzy suggests above but at least it's more difficult and requires more skills. Likewise, I absolutely hated (as in it's a never ending beast) Tour of Pendle and that's probably also contrived.
