Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I don't think the American woman in that article should claim the success of the UK's zero waste week as her own initiative. I think she'll find that the UK and Bury St Edmunds in particular has been doing its own zero waste thing for just as long as she has

And anyway - if she likes a challenge she can come round here anytime ;-) with her white Chihuahua to match the floor indeed....does that mean she can't see the dogs' hair all over the floor then :-o

The mud that my dog treads into the house is not white :-) Luckily my floors are mud-coloured.

I'm with V'rap, it's a wind up 😊 All the bulk buying must come in something and I bet it isn't all recycled. Cocoa powder for blusher made me laugh out loud 😊

The boys have smartphones, so I suppose they can have games on their smartphones.

I wonder if they have a television

I'm with Helegant on the loss of plastic bags. I'm now having to buy bin liners so I've swopped one plastic bag for another. Personally I think the government had a good opportunity to make all plastic bags biodegradable and (in my dreams) to force manufacturers to produce packing that can be recycled.

I think as a household we are very good at recycling everything that we can, but unfortunately not everything we throw out can be recycled by the Council.

Get rid of an engagement ring??? White floor = white dog??? Repeating what everyone else has said re: mud that the dogs bring in!! (Or maybe her dog isn't allowed outside).

It's very common for small animals on the other side of the big pond not to be allowed outside. I wonder if she gives it special food to make its poo white, and if so what sort of packaging the special food comes in ... ;)

At least we did a recycle centre run this weekend. Half a car boot full. Cardboard and a load of old lights.

I remember the days when dog poo did go white if you left it long enough, possibly doesn't fit with the general theme of the article however.

I started the declutter at the weekend. Our tin box of important stuff was bursting at the seams. We now have a well organised box, a pile of shredding and a bundle of recycling in the just emptied wheelie bin.

Not sure what should be the next mission

I enjoying the declutter process - started on the wardrobes last night summer stuff I like packed away, rest ready for clothes bank or charity shop, along with some handbags and shoes. Next is the airing cupboard and all the excess towels and bedding.

".... This month, each of you must get rid of one thing on the first day. On the second, two things. Three items on the third. So forth, and so on. Anything can go! Clothes, furniture, electronics, tools, decorations, etc. Donate, sell, or trash. Whatever you do, each material possession must be out of your house—and out of your life—by midnight each day."
