Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

A joining point later for a shorter route (ideally near a caff or similar) would be really handy

That should be easy to incorporate as the route seems to spend a lot of time around the Floating Harbour.

I'm already picturing a sunny afternoon at the Pump House (and I bet I'm not the only one!).

Ideally during the rugby/football season so that I can get to a match at Ashton Gate 😉

It's a shame Baltic Wharf caravan club site will be closing in May, as it is in the perfect location for this, for those of us who would need to travel some distance, but it sounds like a new site is being set up a mile away at Ashton Court.

Good MTB centre at Ashton Court - and a parkrun! (Haven't done the parkrun but observed it when me and youngest were cycling)

I ran my fastest ever mile at Ashton Court parkrun, assisted by a very long, steep downhill section.

For discussion of the Bristol Bridges Walk. As at 2021, the full route visits 45 bridges in a distance of 45km. There is a reference page maintained by Bristol Civic Society (see link below) and there is also a handbook which can be purchased through that page or on Amazon: Jeff Lucas's "From Brycgstowe to Bristol in 45 Bridges" published by Bristol Books.

The route includes a large loop of around 20km down the River Avon to take in the M5 motorway bridge at Avonmouth and one other, so it should be possible to devise a route which excludes these and offers 43 bridges within around 25km. Sounds like an idea for a run ...
