So the entrenched ask you to come, ask you to put yourself forward for the benefit of the club, and then if you come with ideas/change etc. You're trouble. So they want your vote/quorum, for things to remain, but not input Not for me.

I can see why many people don't want to get involved as it can be a lot of hassle and gives us more of the things we run to get away from. Stress, decisions, politics and difficult customers etc.

I would be in favour of changing the constitution to be informal and not need reports from Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership person and only have matters arising. I don't know if there is some legal thing about having to have a Treasurer's report.

jdarun Nov 2018 7:08pm, 30 Nov 2018 3,340 posts	Quote Pin jdarun My club does free food and puts it on after a club run which works well. A good proportion of the active membership show up (think there are a bunch of "sleepers" too, no harm in that IMO they pay their subs after all).

Recommendation (as above) - keep it short, no surprises, link it to a social event or activity (prizegiving etc) as a reason for people to attend. 'Free' food is always a good pull ...
