Okay - following on from today's blog.

we have our club AGM tonight. I am a little nervous about attendance levels as have had a few apologies from folks.

Quick question then - how many attend yours? and what proportion / percentage of club members is that?

Last year we had 25 adults out of 95 adult members attend. So a little over a quarter - and that was a big attendance for us.

We held our AGM two weeks ago. We had a record turnout, 63 from a membership of 120. This compares with 40 out of 96 in 2017, 36 out of 78 in 2016, 24 out of 69 in 2015 and 18 out of 58 in 2014 (when I was elected Chair).

We always worry that people won't turn up, so made a real effort this year to engage with newer members and explain why they should attend. We also "sell it" as a review of the year, and ask outgoing committee officials to give reports.

Oh, and the club pays for chip cobs too.

I have sent emails, added stuff to FB pages, website and Twitter - and verbal info. Looks like we aren't too far off your attendance.

We were surprised how many members thought it was just for the committee. I suspect there are always people who stay away in case the get roped into taking a committee role! Good luck tonight

Thanks - a lot sounds familiar!

I suspect that we are not alone in having a lot of TURF members - Turn Up Run and then F*** Off types.

Lots of politics in ours, I stopped going. It's emphasized as open to all but tends to just be committee plus a few hangers on. As long as it's quorate...! :-) G

Our club never had more than a dozen members, so we'd conduct any business during our weekly run. :)
