Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Coffee pots, tea pots, milk jugs, and such like that dribble. Who designs and tests them?

Actually, not watering cans but badly-designed measuring jugs

Yes, XB. And then there's the teacup. What a design fail that is. You design a receptacle for a hot liquid so what do you want? You want it to have insulating properties so it won't burn your hands. So do they make it of a nice, thick, insulating material? No, they make it of a thin china and put a handle on the side. A handle big enough to get your finger into to hold it steady? Er, no, a teeny, decorative one. And you want it to be stable, so it doesn't get knocked over, so you want a nice broad base, yes? No, you design it pyramid shape, with the smaller area on the bottom. Of course. And if a little should slop out of this unstable vessel, what is the solution? Of COURSE, You collect it in a shallow dish (saucer) which makes sure it coats the bottom of the cup so that when you try to drink from it again, it drips on you. Designer should be shot. Rant over.

Buy your pouring devices in Germany. They don't have dripping ones.

Fragile Do Not Bend
Fizzy pop bottles and some individual pots of yogurt - almost impossible to keep these items upright in a shopping bag due to being smaller at the base.

Our head of department wants everyone to fill in a spreadsheet on Monday morning with their objectives for the week, and to update it with the outcome and reasons at the end of the week. Coupled with matching Outlook reminders. That's what I call mistrust in your staff and micromanagement.

HB, do you mean buy German designed pouring devices, or are you saying that any pouring device regardless of where it is made will not drip if purchased in Germany? 😀

A german retailer will only sell non-dripping stuff IME.
