Fragile Do Not Bend
At the moment I'm annoying myself with my inability to get a sense of perspective on our current house buying & situation.
In theory everything looks good, our house is a good standard family home, lots of good schools around, fairly good for commuting, not many similar properties on the market in the vicinity, historically houses sell well around here.
The house we want is almost perfect for us, but country houses in this location aren't selling well at the moment, it's been on the market at least 6 months already. They accepted an offer under the asking price but don't want to take it off the market until we sell our house.
So why am I getting all stressed thinking our house won't sell just because it's been on the market 3 days and no interest so far? We would have to be very unlucky for the house we want to be snapped up by someone with a higher offer.
Sorry for waffling and being being all 'woe is me' but I really needed to write it down somewhere!

Moving is one of the most stressful things in life, FDNB. I hope everything turns out right in the end for you. Out of interest, whereabouts are you at the moment and where are you moving to?

Another vote here for Gatlin, they should get rid of that lying charlatan.
Another vote for moving too, done it twice this year. I'm bald now.
well I was bald anyway but even balder.
The last straw was the solicitors fucking up paying the mortgage off, the only thing they needed to do really and they fucked it up.

Phil - currently in suburban mid Kent, wanting to move to rural East Kent. So not going far. My husband has spoken to the estate agents today and they told him it's far too early to panic

The inane messages that get put up on these overhead gantries on motorways. They're meant to serve a useful purpose but I predict that if they keep posting up crap like "respect road workers" "check your fuel" Hard shoulder is for emergencies" Wear your seatbelt" etc. people will stop reading them and so will miss genuinely important messages.

Agreed! Also, 'queue, caution' with advisory speed limits, 'fog' etc. Generally, when you see such a message, you're either a) stationary or b) able to proceed at the legal speed limit with no obstruction visible for miles.
I once drove along the M5 southbound from J2 to J6; every damn sign was warning me of the closure to the M50 J1-2 (accessed from J8 M5, so of no concern to me; there was, however, no warning at all that the M5 was closed at J5.
These messages are less than helpful, as repeated crying wolf over dangers ahead means people are more likely to take no notice when there actually is a problem. They're a fantastic idea in principle, but you'd think that with cameras and a control room, the person operating the signs could use them appropriately (and yes, I'm staring really hard at you, operators of the 'managed' [sic] motorway at Bristol!)

That all started when the Highways Agency took over responsibility for the motorway network. I'm surprised they haven't put up "Vote Tory" signs before now !
