But on the bright side you do get a freezer full of venison.

No idio, that's poaching. The car behind you however can remove the roadkill. *waits for FR to correct her*

Curious to know how its poaching? and isn't only poaching if you get caught? They do say try to remove the animal so it isn't a hazard to other road users so surely putting it in a freeze is helping other road users.

Deer Act 1991 (in England and Wales) although contrary to my statement above, the removal of the carcass is an offence in its own right, even if you didn't cause the death. All poaching is only poaching if you get caught... ![]() |

The sign is actually indicative of wild animals not exclusively deer (have you lot actually read the highway code?). If you hit a deer at speed there are likely to be two carcasses to be removed one with four legs one with two. A fully grown Stag weighs half a ton - you don't want one of those sitting in your lap. Yes it is technically poaching to take the carcass. |

[Not the triangular warning signs, Fellrunning, but the variable message signs. "Caution: High risk of deer on road". Quite often shown on the M80. birdguides.com The Western approach road in Edinburgh does have an exclamation mark foxes sign. Which would be quite amusing if it were at the Western Bar, instead.] |

FR, it's not uncommon for matrix signs on the motorways/trunk roads up here to specifically warn drivers about deer. I've never seen one on the motorway but I have seen a herd of them bring the A90 just outside Edinburgh to a complete halt by deciding that they were crossing to the other side on a Sunday afternoon. Still nothing to standing in a mountain pass listening to two stags bellowing at one another in the rut though. |

Why is it OK for horse owners/riders to allow their animals to shit in the street or on cycle paths etc and not have to pick it up and dispose of it responsibly like dog owners are obliged to do ? (I know dog owners don't always but that's another gripe all together.)
