I wouldn't call someone who picks up a deer carcass from the road a poacher. Again my experience is that poachers are far more vicious and unpleasant people than even BMW drivers. I'd advise against consuming Venison that's come from anywhere but a reputable source. It needs to be specifically butchered as deer carry very (potentially lethal to humans) parasites. If someone offers you some "on the side" don't buy it.

I nearly exploded when someone asked me to sponsor them for walking 10k!!! There are exceptions where a person is perhaps I'll or inform where it is an achievement, however I think the average adult should be capable of walking 6 miles and more! Sponsorship is for rewarding an achievement!
