Were you sitting in my lecture yesterday CStar? It never used to annoy me so much; I think it's become more common - people seem to be under the impression that it's correct.

It's not. It's just pseudo-pretentious
Estate agents and recruitment consultants use it a lot - nuff said!

There is so much that drives me mental about Facebook that it's probably a thread of its own. e.g.
I got Pocahontas ... What Disney princess are you ? I got badger hair brush ... What shaving accoutrement are you ? I got Y-shaped piece of larch ... What stick are you ?
etc.
95% or people can't name a city that doesn't have an 'A' in its name. Can you ?
Yet still I can't bring myself to delete my profile. It's like I have some kind of masochistic illness.

I agree, z1000. And the ones that say something like "and what happened next will really blow your mind". I've never clicked one and I don't feel empty inside.

To add to FB. Worthy message that ends "most people won't share this to support x worthy thing, will you" (implicit "you callous, heartless, creature)?

What really winds me up, especially on here, are the people who lay into other people for their bad use of the English language. Not everyone has had the good fortune to have a good education, let alone getting a higher education qualification. I myself am not 100% sure when or not I can use "myself" and come to that I also struggle with the apostrophe sometimes. If asked to write examples of a sentence in "Passive, active, subjective, objective, reflexive" i would not have a clue, and don't get me started on nouns, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, and all the other grammatical types.
There I feel better now that that is off my chest. Do carry on...
