There are load of people doing it wrong (I do too but thats through lack of training) a woman I went on a long run with 'left' me to keep up the 8.30 pace only to do a 4.35 marathon. She used to do all her long runs at 8.30 pace the same as her general runs the only other pace she did was very fast in intervals but she would die during them. Her first Marathon was 4.45 so tell me why her long runs were that pace FFS
