Sigh
This really does grind my gears: an email from parkrun entitled "Simon we need YOUR help to keep parkrun for everyone", within the body of the message there's no reference to affordability or even consideration of the wider economic challenges faced by many; instead it provides a veiled threat: "We need YOUR help 🧡 By donating to parkrun, you can make an impact and ensure parkrun remains free, inclusive, and welcoming for everyone." - so, if I don't donate, it will stop being free? If I don't donate, I'm not really welcome anymore? No, not at all - but it doesn't say that. Shameless. Thankfully, I'm the kind of person who thinks "bugger off" and deletes it, choosing instead to donate to causes such as the local hospice, or air ambulance - but I'm appalled to think that some folks may feel pressured to donate when they can't really afford to. |

That would get right under my skin too, @Sigh. I unsubscribed from parkrun emails a while ago. It would just be a reminder that Saturday mornings were around long before parkrun was invented and will still be there after it's gone.

1. There is at least one other advert that claims everything can go in the dishwasher. (It also does at our house.) 2. They're washing a stack of plates. 3. It doesn't matter what you say, my gears are ground. |
