Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Presenters that describe something as 'very unique'

It's either unique or it isn't, there are no degrees of uniqueness!

Child genius Simon Fisher said the same thing.

I dread every time I see "new and improved" on my tried, tested and loved products, they usually have me looking for a better replacement.

[new and improved usually means either more expensive or cheaper for the supplier to make and hence higher margin at the same sales price]

BBC headlines.

UK Covid deaths are not falling.

The rates may be, but the total number is most definitely still going up.

I write a work email with a concise, unambiguous title.

I begin the message with a brief introduction setting the context for the email.

I ask a simple question requesting a specific price of information in return.

I receive a response which incorrectly restates my opening paragraph and in no way answers the question asked.

A follow-up email receives no response at all.

Happens all the time.

TV actors "playing videogames" on screen, generally wrestling the controller and pressing as many buttons as they can, often with pew-pew-pew sound effects being put in during post-production.

And always clearly showing that they've never played a game in their life.
