Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

On the outskirts of Edinburgh, there used to be a double roundabout that was known locally as the Magic Roundabout, as the direction of travel round them changed between the morning and evening rush hours to facilitate the volume of traffic heading in or out of the city.

It's long since gone and replaced with a very ordinary set of traffic lights, but a number of the signs on the approach were simply over painted so you can see the outline of the old layout in relief under the new paint

That reminds me: is the Magic Roundabout in Swindon still there? Five mini roundabouts around a central bigger one I think. You went round the mini ones the wrong way I think. Mental.

[I grew up in St Albans and we used to cycle around the Hemel magic roundabout for "fun"... that ones still there, minus one of the mini roundabouts. Seems to still work well, if you understand it's a chain of minis that happens to be in a circle]

[The Swindon "Magic Roundabout" is really very straightforward McG. You look to your required exit, point your car at it, close your eyes and drive. It works every time. Just don't look back to see what carnage is left in your wake!]

Almost right McG - it's five standard mini roundabouts that effectively make a larger virtual roundabout (in the reverse direction) in the centre.

Journalists misusing the term 'terrestrial TV'. Apparently "Premiership Rugby matches will be shown live on terrestrial television for the first time next season", despite five having been shown on Freeview channel 59 this season.

Morons sitting in yellow boxes at a crucial roundabout causing traffic to be backed up around half the town. (Had to wait for 3 traffic light changes before someone waited outside the box so I could go forward.)
