Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Auto pause on bike

Pause running if a proper stop like a pee.

It's only training

Although the clock doesn't stop during a race, I will stop my watch for a few seconds if it is clear that I cannot cross a road straight away. One reason why I always train first thing in the morning in order to avoid my run being interferred with.

I'm with fleecy on this one. At the end of the day does it matter its only training as Gobi says above.

Yes your pace may slow but it doesn't matter times in training don't count for anything at the end of the day Races count.

If however its a specific session like intervals where you have a time target then you do it where obstacles are limited, not where you have to cross roads.

I live in rural Yorkcestershire and yet in this mornings steady 45 mins I had to stop and pause four times. Three to prevent me from being squashed by huge tractors and one to ensure I wasn't squashed by a large lorry..!

I tend to pause on anything over a few seconds wait.... traffic lights etc.

I don't pause on walk breaks tho, which would be on long runs as more reflective of the truth.

I don't pause when I walk/stop when i am jog leading a slower paced group either, i just accept that run wasn't about my time, but theirs, and just consider it about time on feet and miles in the bank for me....

I'm with Gobi. I never pause unless it's a big break. It's only training and I'm never going to break any records training.

Maybe I'm less stats orientated than I thought because I've never really thought about pausing for junctions etc. It's nice to see progression over runs, but on the same route there'll be the same lights etc. Think bike garmin does some autopausing as moving time is generally less than overall time but again, not that fussed....

Sounds like there should be another category to be completed on the back of race numbers below emergency contact numbers & medical info:

Pause Garmin (Yes or No)
