Pause. There's a difference between an 8.30 mile with a gap in it and one with no gap, sure, but, in terms of what your muscles, at least, are having to do, I think the difference between an 8.30 mile and a 9.30 mile (or whatever works for you) is probably more significant. I wouldn't pause in the middle of an interval, but then I wouldn't cross at a traffic light in the middle of an interval either.

auto pause in training. i agree it feels a little bit like cheating, but that's outweighed by the fact I feel like the final read out is lying to me if it didn't pause!

never pause in racing

Same as GordonG, auto-pause on training runs, no pause in races.

I'm more interested in mileage rather than pace usually. I'm quite capable of forgetting to unpause for many miles, which actually fucks up both mileage and pace in any case!

Auto Pause on Bike, Just because junctions can take forever.

No Pause on Runs, but this is a deliberate thing. I do mostly off road runs and am trying to get more skillful at leaping over stiles and stuff, and with autopause there is always a temptation for me to take forever negotiating a gate etc to steal a sneaky breather.

I don't usually pause for crossing a road - unless I know the junction is notorious. I do pause for a comfort break. At track sessions with my old Garmin 110 I used to pause for the static rests because otherwise I couldn't get any form of accurate pace whilst running. With the 220 I have now I don't need to because it adjusts much more quickly once you are moving.

I mostly pause when I have stop to cross roads / wait for traffic / have a pee etc. However, if I'm on a SLOW recovery run, or am running with buddies from work etc. I tend to just leave the watch running as I'm not too fussed about the mileage or pace skew.
