Interesting comparisons. I am built a bit like HG i.e. a bit more "stocky".
I've still got some way to go to match the middle distance track times in my youth 4:2X 1500m and 2:06 800m, which are both 82.5% WAVA. My recent (last 15 years) 1 mile to marathon scores are all 75-77%.
Baz, after that Alloa HM I was sure you would nail a sub 3, it's just a matter of time, 80% is a fantastic achievement, look at how few people on Fetch manage to do it.

JDA, similar to Baz I think you're producing some amazing performances. 83% for a 10k would suggest that you're not so bad at shorter distances!

18:14 for me is an outlier though. On that course, on that day, at that stage in a training cycle I reckon you'd be in that ballpark, or faster Baz. My second best is 18:35, and that's on a track. Other than that I've only dipped under 19 5 times, 3 times on that course, once on a track and once at a parkrun. That's 3 x 18:5X, 1 x 18:3X, 1 x 18:1X.
I need to raise my bar so that at least the 18:3X can give me parity.
You ran 19:42, 19:28, 19:28, 20:06 at Alloa Baz. There's no way on earth sub 19 should be a challenge! I don't think I've cracked 20 in any HM (other than perhaps downhill at Conwy)

As another comparison there is a guy locally who is broadly same age as me. Twice in recent parkruns I have been ahead up to 4.8k, and once by a decent margin, both times he has finished like a train and taken 15 seconds out of me in the finish. His 5k and 10k times are way ahead of me.
However at the HM on Sunday he was 1:27 and I think only once has he beaten me in a half. Ok it was a different route and conditions ,but pretty sure I could have knocked out 1:25 at least.

Just read Larks cross post. I hadn't looked at the Alloa 5k splits and they are interesting. The 19:42 and 20:06 also include the 2 uphills. That said sub 19 for me is a real tough run which I know sounds odd, but getting down around 6mm pace is pretty damn hard. I think I only have 2 sub 18:50s ever if you discount the ones when Edinburgh parkrun was short.
Last weeks 400m reps were only in the 5:50s and that was flat out.

The interesting thing is that on Fetch, the 18:50 gets you 78.x and Alloa gets you 80.x. That was my point about the middle aged men being penalised in the newer tables.

Alloa was a better performance than 18:50 though. My HM WAVAs have always been better than other distances. Also:
1) Does it not depend on how good the WR is for the distance for someone of the same age ,so maybe the best MV50 5k is better than HM which skews things a bit 2) IIRC Fetch for a while and maybe still hadn't updated his tables and so the WAVA calcs are not spot on. Sorry to fetch if that's wrong !

@Baz - 18:50 at Edinburgh parkrun two weeks after Alloa is your best according to Po10 - 78.93% on there, compared to 78.59 for Alloa

That's a geeat photo - the 3 sparrows - not an ounce of fat between you all !
larkim, that backs up my WAVA thing then as fetch has me down for over 80 (80.89 for HM and 78.95 for the 18:50 parkrun)
