Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

One day I may be able to call myself a sprinter...

anyway, 10k race, sunday 8th March. Had not had this one in my sights at all, hence low mileage, but it is a fast course and a local race for me (15 mins away) so thought I would just go and do it and see what happens...

Having never raced more than 10k in distance (aprat froma couple of local 7 milers) then as the aim was for a 10k sub 40 time, to do a 1 hour+ LSR I thought would be enough given it is 150% of the comparative time for the distance.

Incidentally I did go from 45 mins to sub 40 for the same 10k course in a year and primarily think it was due to me increasing mileage from 40 miles (A MONTH) to 80-100 miles a month and having fine tuned speed in 5ks leading up to the race.

You still doing the next Derby Midweek 5k?

My 10k was set on longest run 6.9 miles and 3-4 tempos/ fast runs leading up to it.

Mileage hasn't really increased now but doing more quality, the longest run is now 10.3 miles.

SPR I still plan on going to the event, but will likely do the 1mile race, which is at 7pm. The 5k then follows at 7.20pm. You looking into getting the train to mine?

Homer, submit an immediate entry for the Paisley 10k 2009.....the course is several hundred metres short and people were pb'ing like flies last year......See the Scottish Athletics forum for a hilarious debate on the subject.....It features desparate attempts on the part of participants/organisers to shack up what was an embarrassing fiasco... Athletics Data describe the course as short on their well respected website....Tally Ho !

On a serious note ,I believe your 5k time entitles you to a sub 40 soon....just need the right course at the right time of day (preferably evening) and a really hard push through 8 and 9 k .....
