Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I ran a 38.45 10k pb when my 5k pb was 18.49 (raced very closely together)
And off the back off FLM training my speed has increased as I just ran a 18.00 dead 5k last weekend so IMO you can increase endurance and speed at the same time withhhe correct training mix.
Homer- I'll bet you sub 40 very soon as your 10k suggests its a cert :-)

P.E...
Going to aim for this at the Bupa 10k in Manchester in May all being well, so would be intrigued to see how you get on and what tips everybody has.

I really do think it is a confidence thing though as long as you put in the miles of course....and naturally have a good day!

I'm so close to this. I ran 40:15 in November but my 5k tme is nowhere near what people are suggesting you need for a sub-40 10k. My current 5k time is 19:48 but I do think I can go quicker if I sort my pacing out.

A week on Sunday I may be trying something out...I've been sub 40 twice now, each time after having put in some decent training, including plenty of 1 hour long runs etc. However, so far this year I have only ran more than 10k in distance on one occassion :-0 However, I have done lots of decent (short) speed work (e.g. 5x200m in an average of 26.5 seconds for each) and more tempo runs (at least one a week) than I have ever done before (they were nearly always races which I wasn't racing), so, I wonder what this may do for a prospective 10k pb???

Even I don't call an hour run long ;-). Good luck with the 10k.
