Thanks for the advice Baz, luna and Westley. Will try and take it easy, I have been watching the progress of others on here (Lou for example) and clearly taking it easy is the best way to resolve issues. Will have a night off tonight, have the massage and then decide on the weekend. More importantly may reduce the weekly mileage planned with P+D.
Luna, our club is based at the Rugby Club, so i get to *rehydrate* there after the running! Fellow runner gave the massage, i think she just liked hurting me

I don't think I've ever been cited as a good example before Dan I have been naughty and ramped the miles up fast so beware.
Legs not too bad after intervals - did spin this morning and going out for midweek long run now.
Little problem with right heel. But I've seen someone early and dealing with it. fingers crossed.

I would strongly recommend increasing the mileage if you have any niggles, that's usually the only way I get over any injuries, but I see a good Physio and massage person in combination.
Midweek long run tonight 10.5 miles, feeling tired and hungry, looking forward to a bit of a mini taper before the race on sunday

Wow. OK, my mistake. Increase the miles to banish the niggles. Nice! Mind you, my physio has said increase the pace to force the pelvis to heal (or break) so maybe there's method in the madness?! :-)G

I seem to be following the Insomniac rule - should be a good mileage week. I've also purchased what might me the worldest smallest foam roller for my feet. Handbag sized - can take it to work and foam roll till my hearts content!
13miles tonite. Felt a mixture of hardwork, easy, then hardwork again... not helped by really needing to spend a penny but having to make the choice between being at one with nature and possibly exposing myself to the east coast main train line. Maybe too much info.... men definetly have it easier!!

It happens to me often, I taper and develop all sorts of niggles - proper ones that physios can diagnose, doesn't usually stop me from running, just irritating and worrying and sore, then when I start building up my milage again for the next race, they all go. As a doctor I believe this is a good rule for inflammatory conditions, as long as there's nothing torn or broken. But even after surgery I advise my patients to take pain killers and be as active as possible, the longer you rest, the more the muscles waste away, and the longer it takes to recover. I'm not popular with the patients who just want as much time off work as possible!

3 miles of Tempo today. Messed up with my Garmin, as I am a , but seemed to generally hold 6.31mm pace on average. Quite pleased - it didn't hurt that much :)
