Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Seeing this thread pop up again has given me a nice bit of perspective.

January and into February last year I ran a sequence of 20.01; 20.15; 20.01; 20.38. Before finally hitting 19.48 in the last parkrun I ran before it was suspended. I'd 1 prior sub 20 (19.47) from 2018.

A sub 20 had been my white whale for years.

I ran a 6 mile tempo on Friday with a 19.54 benchmark 5k in it and it didn't even strike me as particular significant, until this thread got me thinking.

But, by the same token, I've yet to TT a sub 20 on the Parkrun course across the street from me! That would be a big day!

Ormeau Park. It's nothing but sharp corners and hairpins, a fecking momentum killer.

I seem to be able to hold a pace, but it takes me a while to get there!

If I'm looking a time I go to Victoria Park which is basicly a mile long circle.

Good plan...and plenty time to train!

I think I'm still a very, long way from getting under 20 again. Its been a lot of years. I think I could get to 22 now but I'm doing marathon stuff so hopefully park run will be back in the summer so I can try then

Ha Park run. Where a sub 20 time would win the local park run (actually Lanhydrock, these days it may not, but Mt Edgcumbe it would)... Oh Cornwall.

My 19.47 at Victoria Park was good for 26th. 28 of 265 finishers broke 20.

If it wasn't a loop I'd swear it was downhill

I think it's good to kid yourself on flats that it's downhill, when I'm struggling on the Camel Trail, I'm like this all downhill now - look it looks downhill, therefore it must be. If I thought negatively, and was thinking this is all uphill I think that would cost a few seconds definitely.
