I think I'll have a go at reading James Joyce's "Ulysses". I've had a copy for a few years - after finding out about Bloomsday - but not attempted to read it, putting it off until I retired. But then we haven't been on holiday so I haven't started it. Now can be the time ![]() This review within a review has me intrigued: “'Ulysses' is an overwrought, overwritten epic of gratingly obvious, self-congratulatory, show-off erudition that, with its overstuffed symbolism and leaden attempts at humor, is bearable only by terminal graduate students who demand we validate the time they've wasted reading it.” Ouch. This is the kind of wet-blanket misinformation that you will have to ignore if you want to have any fun. And "Ulysses" is fun—maybe the best book you take to the beach this summer. |

Hi! Have caught up with the thread so far... mine are both restarts - but I am surprisingly nervous! First, new RR Couch to 5k course is starting on Saturday. Sophie has stepped down, I have one new coach and a lot of newish runners in the main group that I am hoping won't drift away while I'm not looking. Then I have to embrace hybrid working and get back to the office - there's a few things to unpack there... Anyway if those are in the right spirit, I'm in! |

QP has gone back to college so I have reclaimed his room. I sold a sofa bed which has been cluttering up the home office as well. My next step is to redistribute some stuff to make better use of the space available.

Contemplating this: westonac.co.uk Starts in September, only once a month for nine months but never done it before. Always fancied it but I've always allowed life to get in the way. I suppose I've got a week or two to think about it... |

I am going to re-upholster my late FiL's chair this month. I have the material, the frame is stripped down so I just need a kick up the backside get started and finished. So watch this space for pictures. I have never 're-upholstered anything before so could be interesting.
