Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

One downside of Bishopbriggs as a venue (for me at least) is a lack of decent beer in the pubs (twas ever thus!). The Quin in the middle of Bishopbriggs (less than a mile away) is a historical gem, The Crow nearby is a typical boozer, The Avenue a short distance further is modern. But no real ale.

Been in Quin's a few times years ago. First time I've seen it described as a historical gem😀

The only place I have ever had a pint in Bishie was The Crow (after the Jack Crawford when it was on a Saturday afternoon, said race also being the first time I met Spiced Apple).

It was a rather faded gem in the 80s Ally-C. But once renovated it's a fine example of a typical Glasgow corner bar.

What is now the Snug was the ladies bar within my memory. No one of the female persuasion allowed in the main bar of course!

I can still remember women and kids waiting outside of a Payday evening, so as to relieve their man of the week's housekeeping before it disappeared over the bar.
