I’m Undecided drive down early Saturday from Aberdeen, or might stay with friends in Cumbernauld I’m certainly driving home after a bit of food and (soft) drinks as I stupidly put myself down for run director at juniors on Sunday AM |

I had almost forgotten about this, and have barely been running lately (and certainly at no great speed!). If anyone was travelling from Aberdeen, I may be keen (not so keen on trying to work out accommodation etc when there's so much else going on that weekend).

57.5 Degrees of Pain
I am looking forward to the Mile, and seeing what the venue looks like now. My first experience of both organised football and cricket (40+ years ago) was at Huntershill, and I did the speed work for my first proper marathon training program on the old blaize track there much more recently. Even used the hill up to the venue for hill sprints. Sadly I moved away in 1987 and my return as a 'boomerang child' 9 years ago was mercifully short (for both me and my parents!). So I am not much use for local contacts. Happy to liaise with local parkrun teams if you want though. Springburn parkrun is closest (half mile maybe) but I would suggest supporting Ruchill (3 miles or so) as they average 55 or so to Springburn's 110. Both courses are undulating, but not Drumchapel/ Tollcross hilly. |

I think you will see it on this map. LG fetcheveryone.com/viewracedetails.php?id=2294691 About 3-4 miles? Jut near Bishie train station and loads of buses go up the main road, with some along the Auchinairn Road as well, I think. +1 for Ruchill parkrun then enjoy a bit of urbex down the canal back into town. |

Buses for Kirkintilloch (88, 89) leave from the bus station. They come over Balgrayhill (past Springburn Park where the parkrun is located) and turn left at the bottom of the hill on Colston Road. Get off there and the venue is a short distance in the other direction (right at the bottom of the hill on Auchinairn Road). To get in I suspect you now have to go left on Crowhill Road and then right to access the venue. There are also buses that arrive in Auchinairn from other directions but not as simple from the bus station.
