Not sure why they've added JOGLE as starting in Moffat !!!!!
And, erm, £3,500 - think I'll pass on that

What!? I smell a rat and it's in the vicinity of Great Run HQ.

Interesting development and I wonder if others will follow. Did GNR not announce a new route that they through would work better ?
I suspect VLM must be thinking about October and can they go ahead

Of course VLM can go ahead - no going back after the 19th down there! However bad things are. It's official.

*waves back to Dvorak*
A 15 mile run/hobble yesterday confirmed that I'll not be wise to enter the Cateran Ultra or the Conic Canter due to injury. But I have booked an appointement with both Doctor and a Physio consult (plantar fasiiiitis). Hoping to make it back to the longer stuff with the Ochils 30-miler in late September.
Dvorak - I emailed the organisers asking them about the route, but no update yet. Thanks for updating the Fetch race page!

I know a few on here have ran the Speyside Way Ultra in the past - I've entered this year (surprised no-one else is in the Fetch race listing ), and looking for some info on surface type to help decide on shoe choice, as I've never done any part of the course.
Is it mainly woodland paths and forestry type roads ? Is there any/much tarmac, or very hard pack paths where more cushioning would be appreciated ? How much potential very muddy sections ( if there's been rain ) ?
What type of shoes would you recommend - road, hybrid, trail, fell ?
My choices would be from - Hoka Mach 4 ( road ), Hoka Challenger 5 ( hybrid ) or Hoka Evo Speedgoat ( trail ), Inov8 X-talon 260 Ultra ( fell )
Any helpful pointers appreciated - ta

Gus, never ran the race but have walked and ran different parts of it. It’s mostly hard packed trails, some grassy bits which can be a bit muddy if it’s been wet, there are short sections of road. Some do it in road shoes, others trail shoes.

I wore road shoes because I hate my trail shoes. Most people said I’d be ok as long as it didn’t rain- it was torrential rain the night before. Sigh.
That said, there were still only a couple of sections I was a bit slip slidey on and I was surprised how much road there was. Albeit I’m very much back of the field so I don’t mind slowing down if it’s slippy, I was still glad of my choice
