At that time I couldn't grasp how the death of a musician would have affected him so deeply.. until today

Particularly loved the stuff up to about 1974, although I still have many many recordings of his I love that were after that - Heroes, Sound and Vision, Scary Monsters, and China Girl to name but a few. I remember seeing him on Top of the Pops as Ziggy Stardust and being fascinated by him.

What always struck me was he was probably the one artist that everyone liked, summed up by a great advert in the NME around the time punk was strong in the 1970's: "There's Old Wave, there's New Wave and there's David Bowie"

Plus the guy knew how to take a risk. For those two things alone, thanks man.
