Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The world is little less colourful this morning. Shocked at the news but what a legacy of great tunes.

Many of the musicians of my youth are reaching ages where they are more vulnerable, Bowie being one of them. Diamond Dogs album my favourite with Hunky Dory close behind.

Probably the saddest I've ever been after the death of a music legend. David Bowie was my favourite artist - I was too young to know him in his Ziggy and Hunky Dory days, but came to appreciate him and what he did for the music industry as a whole later in life.

I spent hours at university playing his music, and even studied the theory behind his music (and there was a lot!) as well as looking at its greater impact throughout the music industry.

I'll never forget the first time I saw him live at Shepherd's Bush Empire and was completely blown away, and did some violin work at the South Bank Centre with him and Brian Eno.

Truly saddened by this news today.

Sad news :-(

Growing up my family only had a handful of albums and David Bowie was one of the few we had. My mother always said that he was the one person she would consider running off with if she had the chance. So for these reasons he was always a bit of a legend.

RIP

Saddened by this news. I was around 12 when Ziggy Stardust came out. I'd never heard anything like it. Although Hunky dory is the better album in my view. Saw him live on the Mysterious Moonlight tour. Great show.

I'm old enough to have seen him live on stage in his Ziggy persona. First live gig I had ever been to and I can still remember it well. Sad day.
