Spokesman for parkrun, Fir Apollo, told us that the new initiative was to encourage people to make new friends. They said ‘Travelling backwards will allow participants to appreciate the scenery from another view and to support other participants.’ Core teams have been given the option of tail walkers starting at the front.

Though we didn’t tell HQ obviously, as they want ‘alternate’ courses to be deliberately long so people cannot get a PB on a temporary course.
