Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

First OW of the season. 2k in a lovely calm lake, only a few other swimmers around, watched by some ducks and a seagull perched on one of the buoys. Loved it.

Thanks. Just a viral thing but unwise to submerge myself in water, I think

First time back in the pool this morning for what feels like ages (I've been a bit poorly). Steady 1500m, felt like I was swimming in glue.

Different crowd in the pool today as it's a bank holiday. Was a bit crowded at first but then thinned out. At one point it felt like I was racing a bloke in the adjacent lane as we had very similar speeds. I think he was better at pushing off the wall as he was always slightly ahead at the beginning of the length but I would overhaul him by the end. This went on for about 8-10 lengths but then I got to the end of my set so we were out of sync after that. Wonder if he was aware or if it was just a coincidence?

Did 50+ lengths in the end, my stamina is a lot better now. Slow and steady :-)

@Northern Exile it comes back quickly once you're back to regular swimming. Well done getting out there and glad you're feeling better.

Accidental races are always a bit of fun, LN, whether both racers are aware of it or not!

Surprised by how many had turned out for an 8 o'clock swim on a bank holiday. Plenty of room, though, so I did a steady 800, then 8 x 100 hard with whatever rests felt necessary, then topped up to 2k with some more easy lengths. It felt nice to be going for it a bit!

Well done all. I failed to get up for my swim before work this morning but work is very quiet due to many folks being on holiday so hoping to get away sharp and swing past on my way home
