Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Consecutive days of 2km in the local pool. Can't cope with swimming clockwise for some reason :-o

Fenners so glad it's not just me - but I had the opposite, usually swim clockwise but had to swim anti-clockwise for the first time in ages on Friday and really struggled, especially with turning at the ends!

I can only swim clockwise! I did a 5km swimathon a few weeks ago and about 3/4 of the way through they moved us up a lane and I went from a clockwise lane to anti clockwise. It completely threw me, I had to tell myself it really made no difference, but took me ages to find myself again

I've done most of my swimming in an anticlockwise lane. If I finish up going the wrong (yes it is!) way round I end up doing the weird thing where I turn the wrong way all the way round to go back the other way. This has the advantage of letting me see if anyone is getting close to overtake me.

It is definitely a me problem. When in the 'fast' lane, I like the lane rope to be visible on my right, as I breathe on the right.

@Northern Exile I can't cope with breathing on the left, so only breathe on the right. To be fair, I'm not even a runner, so even less a swimmer. But I enjoy it.

Which way round I go has never bothered me. My pool has no consistency but perhaps that's a good thing! It probably helps that I'm rubbish at turns anyway so haven't got good enough to prefer one way over the other ;-)

had the whole pool to myself for a big chunk of my swim this morning- lush! just managed to hit that sweet spot of arriving after the morning rush (changing room was full when I got there) and before the off-peak/day folks arrived
