rhb, thank you. I know of a coach, I`ll contact them and see what I can do.

I'm considering a 1:1 session. Does £50 for an hour of 1:1 in a private lane sound like the going rate? greenlightpt.co.uk |

I charge £40 / hour, but I’m not allowed a private lane (although I always work when the pool’s quiet). I’d say £50 was good value if it includes an exclusive lane. As an aside I also know a local TI coach who charges £200 to be part of a 5:1 session of 3 hours pool and 4 hours dry (bring your own lunch). And the local Alexander method Art of Swimming “guru” charges about £160 for a couple of hours, iirc. |

From my own experience, me & a friend paid £85 total for a 2-to-1 session for about an hour with a swim coach the other year. No private lane, but very quiet pool. Was really really helpful, money definitely well spent.

Thanks for sharing your experience Angus and WM. I think I'll give it a go, just need to find a gap in the calendar which is always the challenge! |

Can anyone suggest ways to stop my feet cramping while I’m swimming? I tend to get more problems in the evening rather than in the morning so I don’t think it’s dehydration. Thanks.

I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss dehydration, no matter what time of day. Another factor could be flexibility. Do you stretch your feet? You’d be amazed at the flexibility range required for swimming; you could practice plantar flexion and dorsiflexion at home of an evening. It might help. |

Perfect conditions for the Coolie Classic 3k this morning. A bit slower than I would have liked at 1 hour 10 minutes but a cording to my Garmin(which is clearly never wrong) I swam 3.3km so about the ocean I was expecting. I was overtaken a lot, whilst I was in one of the later waves the 2km swim was only ten minutes behind us. Difficult to believe how fast some of the swimmers were.

Tumbling onto back practice today (step 1 of that video I posted) When I do it without twist I forget to blow from my nose. Stingy nostrils this eve!
