Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

If it's shin splints then you need to be iceing daily S. A good stretch for the area is to stand with your toes on the edge of a step and let your weight stretch your calfs. Basically it's rest and ice for shin splints, and when they feel better try and work on strengthening the muscles around the shin area. Something as simple as sitting on the sofa and raising your foot up and down(hingeing at the ankle) will do the trick. Then when you start running again try and stay off concrete run on verges or trails, and whack the ice on as soon as you get back home even if they don't hurt. And finally go to a proper running shop and get fitted for your running shoes.

It doesn't sound much consolation, and Dr Cabletow may say it's complete twaddle, but my GP reckoned thay when I had shin splints they would heal and be stronger than before.I've never had a problem with shins since.I do 99% of my running on tarmac.Hallelujah for cushioned running shoes.
