Cyclops
I have cancelled my subscription to Simply Knitting and resolved not to buy Simply Crochet. That way I won't fill the house with magazines and start buying yarn to make things when I have a houseful of projects to start/finish.

We finished decorating the spare room before Christmas, and at the weekend hubby finally moved his record collection from the office (also known as the dumping ground!) up to the spare room. Today I took advantage of the subsequent appearance of empty floorspace in the office to rearrange the furniture and although I haven't actually got rid of anything from there, my clutter is much less cluttery and more 'piles of stuff-y' and a enough space to walk in the room and get to the desk without stepping on anything
And the piles of stuff look much less daunting than the general clutter that was in there before, so I may even tackle some of it tomorrow
Cyclops - some of the stuff I uncovered was bags and bags of wool, and several incomplete projects, which I have resolved to work through before bringing any more yarn into the house!!

I gave in and bought that book from the Japanese wifey about only keeping things that spark joy. Initially thinking it was a lot of tosh, I'm reduced to thinking just a wee bit of tosh. I have used the concept since Friday and have sent 3 binbags and 1 bulging ikea bag of clothes, 2 boxes of bric-a-brac to the charity shop. There are 3 rubble bags of books in my car waiting to go to charity bin, and the rubbish bin is full.
I have only scratched the surface, as I have stuff my mum gave me sitting in my garage that I reckon I'm going to get rid of as well.
It's stupid common sense as well, why did I need 3 trifle bowls, no idea. Never mind that they were a bugger to fit in the cupboard and I used the same one all the time anyway.

I have a trifle bowl...and I only ever want it at Christmas time, which is fortunate, because it's in NZ...not somewhere I can pop to & get it when required.
It's a crystal glass bowl, quite pretty. From my granny, who made the best (read: booziest) trifle ever.
Actually, my mum makes a damn fine trifle too. She gets here in about 5-6 weeks

I have a trifle bowl too. Have to say I don't use it *all* that often... but I wouldn't be without it

GF has lined up a load of books for the charity shop. DVDs to follow - she's suddenly got into the whole decluttering vibe! Wooo!
We're going to get the custom shelves finally installed next week. Then we can empty all the boxes we still have full and get rid of loads of stuff.

I make limoncello trifle in mine, very boozy and so good, it gets requested a few times a year. it's also a good size for a tiramisu.
