No, I'm not sure either child notices their surroundings given they throw their rubbish on the floor instead of the easily accessible bin. He needs a desk for his computer though and the only way it'll fit in is with major rearrangement of furniture in there.

Yes. Even before the stuff from Aberdeen arrived, we've been in desperate need of a clear out. Each time I try to sort out things to get rid of them, there's never enough time to finish the job, so things hang around for ages waiting to be taken to the charity shop / dump / material bank. It also requires some buy-in from dh, but that never comes....

I've been most effective using the 'short' time' principle. 15 or 20 minutes max of effective work, then do something else.

I get no buy-in from dh, so I'm working round him...But I do recommend getting a friend or family member to help or paying someone ![]() |

Just had a chat with my frail elderly parent who is now 'decluttering legal stuff' so that I don't get left with a mess to clear up.

*shudders at thought of dealing with my parents' stuff* they've been in the same house for 50 years and never had a clear out. Good idea about asking a friend to help ![]() |
