Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

My mum was telling me she has been reading her recently deceased Auntie’s diaries. She was a teen in the 2nd world war so apparently full of stories about soldiers billeted in their town, along with where she took the dog for a walk every day!

We found boxes full of postcards that had been sent to Mum since the early 50s. I think I have another box I haven't been through. Then I let my sister and brother go through them before they got dumped/burnt.

Although we might assume they'd be mundane and interesting only to us, I wonder if local history groups would ever be interested in things like old diaries and letters

I was intrigued that mum actually liked reading where her aunt walked the dog, as she could picture the locations. You’d think that would be quite mundane in a diary.

MInd you, Fetch has made that redundant. I can see where Rainbow rider and BiL walk their dog each day, on a map, and how fast they did it.

I feel the same Gordon, same with the boxes & boxes of local photos (eg Brighton Marina being built). But I don't have the energy/capacity. I'll see if Snoopers Paradise in Brighton will take them, otherwise everything just has to go. Unless I can find a group easily on FB.

".... This month, each of you must get rid of one thing on the first day. On the second, two things. Three items on the third. So forth, and so on. Anything can go! Clothes, furniture, electronics, tools, decorations, etc. Donate, sell, or trash. Whatever you do, each material possession must be out of your house—and out of your life—by midnight each day."
