Wriggling Snake
That's got me stumped.
Yes, the picture was taken up at Holyhead, almost on the highest point of Angelsey. The were a group of 6 or so around South Stack as well, sat and watched them for half an hour while eating our sandwiches for lunch, very good fliers.

That yellow bird has me stumped too--it's the colour that doesn't fit with anything!. Leg length? Shape? Redwings here and there around Cardiff now in very low numbers; 8 Redpolls over my garden yesterday.

Fragile Do Not Bend
Visited Hampton Court yesterday, absolutely loads of parakeets around. And saw some Red Deer in Bushy Park afterwards. Lyl

I am sure these parakeets will be seen as a nuisance pretty soon, they look amazing, there are small colonies up here in Manchester....

Unfortunately working long hours this week, so no chance to get up there, but there is a lot if local excitement about a Booted Warbler being spotted over the last couple of days on the Great Orme above Llandudno. Apparently it is all due to the east wind blowing migrants off course. Doubt I'll get to see it, but if you're in North Wales in the next couple of days worth a trip.

East winds often bring rarities! Booted Warbler sounds good but too far away to run to see! I presume the parakeets mentioned are Ring Necked Parakeets which have colonised parts of se England over the last decade or more. They haven't spread this far (into S.Wales) really although single ones turn up now and again--I had one in my garden a few years back.

Had an interesting 5 minutes looking through the kitchen window this morning.
A squirrel was gathering sweet chestnuts and burying them in the lawn. Standing a foot behind him, waiting patiently, was a Magpie, and as soon as the squirrel had finished and went back to get more nuts....
it dug them up and ate them.
A minute later this arrived

Some sort of grebe on the river in Wetherby. Neck too short and the wrong colour for a great crested. Pale brown body with a darker head, a quick search shows it might have been a red necked grebe in winter plumage. Never seen anything except swans and mallards there before!
