I know this isn’t a solely a nocturnal creature, but I saw dozens of these little crtitters today while duck weeding the pond. They’re no more than 10mm head to tail at the moment. They may not be pretty but they are very delicate.

The hedgehog has been around a lot tonight. Feeding and drinking, and then off into the undergrowth making some quite loud noises, as if blowing out of its nose hard.
It’s repeated this three or four times in the last hour.

Do you have multiple hedgehogs perhaps? Ours tend to make that noise when there is another one around.

Yes YP. We have a regular (small one) and our neighbour has another (larger one). We have seen them together occasionally. Last night though we only saw one. No doubt the other was somewhere around.

Not hedgehogs but we have some night time garden activity that is annoying Mrs Axe.

She has acquired a 1/3rd beer barrel that acts as a planter on our patio and a few weeks ago she was adding some plants into it. While ferreting in the compost she felt something and pulled out a half eaten decomposing pigeon. I wasnt there when this happened but I believe she screamed. The pigeon was disposed of.

Ever since, whatever buried the pigeon (a fox I am guessing) has returned and been digging in the barrel to find the remainder of its meal and leaving compost all over the patio.

2 hedgehogs last night making lots of noise! The dog heard and was totally distracted by them (when he was supposed to be doing his night time wee).

We had this one turn up for an early dinner the other evening :-)

We regularly have 2 or 3 different hogs visit to feed.

A fox has been visiting the last couple of nights, it managed to get into both feeding stations, I am surprised so much fox can fit into a small opening, it’s only the hips that prevented getting fully inside!

Got something to say?
