Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Been watching house martins fly around here today.

They’re not visiting the nests I can see, which haven’t seen any activity for a while now. I thought all had left, but there are at least four birds feeding between the trees on the green.

We’ve been on Skye for the week and did a wildlife tour one day which delivered golden eagles and sea eagles as well as ravens and a flock of goldfinch that flew alongside our minibus at approx 25 mph.

No pics I’m afraid as they were too distant for my camera. But absolutely beautiful to see.

Singing chiffchaff this morning locally again, plus a starling doing a fairly good tawny owl ‘t’wit’ call. What I think was a flock of fieldfare this afternoon in South Yorkshire

Just had 3 fluffy juvenile Tawny Owls watching me and the dog on our evening walk. Spent a good few minutes watching them before they glided off.

I've had emails from 2 charities I support - RSPB and Wildlife Trusts. They're about the government's attack on nature. I've written to my MP and hope I can encourage others on here too.

Have done likewise RS. What they are planning is so short-sighted and selfish.

Knowing our local MP to be a very tory Tory, with no interest in nature (other than money to be made by shooting it), I expect it to be a waste of time. But can but try.

I am in the same position Flanker, re MP. In fact, he would happily shoot EU citizens, he said so much when I spoke to him about his lack of support to EU citizens: I am not intetested: you don't have a vote 😱😱🤬🤬 His voting record is something to behold!!! And his wife was incharge of Covid vacvinations and raked it in 🤬🤬🤬 No concern for the struggling classes, let alone nature...

Likewise RS. My local MP is the Labour whip, so really can’t make any difference at the moment, but it’s good to remind them what we care about for the future.
