Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Winter thrushes (redwing and orange fieldfare) maybe?

I googled the raptor. Several pics came up of a hybrid bird. Your spot could be an escapee?

A local bird group has had sightings of a peregrine on one of our local church spires. Need to go and have a look.

They look like Martins to me Um. Probably House if you saw flashes of white. If you look at your 4th photo down and blow it up the birds at the bottom clearly show Martin shaped tails. There are lot gathering and moving south at the moment. We've had them through every day for the last week or so, feeding up in flocks before roosting overnight.

A Hen Harrier is bigger again than a Crow but a Peregrine is a similar size to a Crow and much more Kestrel 'shape' in flight. I'm thinking either a Peregrine or as DT an escapee of something similar.

My first thought was martins too but I'm not as confident on their ID. I thought I saw a flock last week (perhaps the week before) if only because I immediately realised they weren't swallows and was surprised to see swifts again until I realised my probable oversight and looked closer. I'd say the flock I saw looks very similar to your photo.

Wow, didn't take long from the very warm days of a lingering summer only last week!

People are saying they are very early, one guy said the second earliest he has seen in 40 years (but only by one day).
